Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for an adjunct faculty member to develop and teach online sections of two courses: "Teaching in the Clinical Setting" and "Assessment of Learning and Curricula in Health Professions Education" in the BS in Health Sciences degree program. The first course is to be taught in the Spring 2013 semester and the second, in the 10-week 2013 Summer session.

Requirements:
Required: An advanced degree (doctorate preferred) in a health sciences-related area; experience teaching online at the college level; experience using Blackboard or other learning management systems; demonstrated teaching effectiveness; the ability to engage and motivate students; excellent organizational and communication skills, and a commitment to undergraduate education.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • In collaboration with the course coordinator, maintain the integrity of the curriculum
  • Facilitate the course content in accordance with the stated objectives
  • Maintain high standards of excellent in online facilitation
  • Serve as a role model for students in professional interactions
  • Facilitate individual and group learning goals
  • Moderate small group online synchronous chat sessions
  • Demonstrate competency of theoretical knowledge in area(s) of expertise
  • Use appropriate distance (online) teaching models to enhance student learning
  • Demonstrate the application of the Neuman Systems Model throughout course objectives
  • Actively interact in online small group discussion forums
  • Assess, evaluate, and monitor student progress
  • Provide timely feedback to students
  • Record and maintain accurate class records
  • Participate in course content meetings
  • Provide the course coordinator with on-going data related to student performance
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with professional nursing practice
