University of Charleston

The University of Charleston seeks adjunct instructors to teach online courses in several different areas. In the School of Arts and Sciences, UC needs the following areas: foundational courses in Social Sciences and Humanities, Freshman Writing and Speaking, Literature and History. In the School of Business and Leadership UC needs instructors in the areas of Business Administration and Accounting.

UC also has adjunct positions across the state of West Virginia to teach hybrid courses at various locations in Humanities, Social Sciences, Math, Freshman Writing and Speech.

Minimum Qualifications
All faculty must have at least a masters degree in the field/discipline in which they are teaching and preferably teaching experience in a course similar to the advertised position. In some cases, subject to approval by the Provost, a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree. Specific to Art, faculty must have an MFA degree for studio art positions; an MA, PHD, or ABD for art history positions with ability to teach the survey, and teaching experience as a graduate TA or adjunct. Applicants should have an interest in teaching basic introductory level skills (especially foundations), art appreciation and survey level art history, and developing online instruction.

Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience desirable;
Strong communication skills;
Experience assessing classes;
experience with online management systems (such as D2L);
Classroom management skills.

The Graduate Liberal Studies Program at Rutgers-Camden, an ONLINE inter-disciplinary Masters program in humanities and social sciences, is seeking experienced instructors in the following area:
AFRICA, CHINA, or MIDDLE EAST - HISTORY, CULTURE, & POLITICS

Applicants must have doctoral level education in their field (PhD or ABD).
Applicants must have prior experience teaching online courses, graduate level preferred.

Disciplines and specific focus are flexible. Preference is for inter-disciplinary approaches to topics. Courses should show technological and academic sophistication and creativity. Experience mentoring student research and writing is expected.
