International Baccalaureate Examiners

The International Baccalaureate (IB) currently has over 10,500 examiners who together assess the work of over 100,000 Diploma Programme students. Examiners are appointed to mark externally assessed work or to moderate internally assessed components (reviewing the original marking of teachers). Candidates' work is assessed against prescribed and well-defined criteria or markschemes. The role of examiner is highly valued, and the IB places emphasis on the professional integrity of individuals in examining positions.
